There is a soil stack in the garage but the length i d be joining is of dubious quality cast i think but may want to replace anyway.

Drain the tub using gravity by placing the washer drain hose on the floor near the drain or in a bucket.
Two problems can arise with this approach.
The washing machine drain hose goes down about two feet into the plumbing drain standpipe.
Remove the front panel screws.
Bail the water out of the tub.
However a garage is not a good place to install a washing machine.

So i ran the waste into a std waste pipe.
